October - Favourites

Welcome to our creative corner, where your favourite things take centre stage this month! Whether it's the tools you use, the artists who inspire you, or the techniques that bring your art to life, our collection of art journal prompts is designed to help you dive deeper into what you love most.

Through reflection, expression, and experimentation, you'll discover new layers of your artistic journey while celebrating your personal favourites. Let these prompts spark your creativity and inspire you to explore the art that resonates with your soul.

Week 1: Favourite Colour ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

  • Choose your favourite colour as the theme for a journal page.

  • Begin by filling the page with different shades, tints, and tones of that colour using paint, markers, or collage.

  • How does this colour make you feel? Write down the emotions or memories that come to mind when you think of this colour.

  • Incorporate images, symbols, or textures that you associate with this colour.

  • Experiment with how the colour interacts with others by adding small accents of complementary or contrasting colours.

  • End by reflecting on why this colour resonates with you, and write down a few words or a poem inspired by it.

  • As always, don’t forget to share your art with us by collaborating and tagging us in your posts.

Week 2: Favourite art supply

  • What is your favourite art supply, and why do you love it?

  • Describe how it feels to hold and use it.

  • What kinds of art or marks do you create with it?

  • How does this tool influence your artistic process or style?

  • Illustrate a moment or memory when you felt deeply connected to this supply in your art journey.

  • Imagine losing this tool for a day. How would your creative flow change?

Week 3: Favourite artist

"In the Footsteps of Inspiration"

  • Who is your favourite artist, and what draws you to their work?

  • Reflect on how their art makes you feel. What emotions or thoughts arise when you view their pieces?

  • What specific elements of their style or technique resonate with you the most?

  • Create a piece inspired by their work—either by mimicking their technique or channelling their subject matter.

  • Write or sketch how their influence shows up in your own artistic journey. Do you see traces of their style in your work? If so, where?

  • If you could ask this artist one question about their process or vision, what would it be?

Week 4: Favourite technique

"In the Footsteps of Inspiration"

  • Who is your favourite artist, and what draws you to their work?

  • Reflect on how their art makes you feel. What emotions or thoughts arise when you view their pieces?

  • Write or sketch how their influence shows up in your own artistic journey. Do you see traces of their style in your work? If so, where?

  • If you could ask this artist one question about their process or vision, what would it be?
