Techniques Tuesday - Gelli Printing (Part 2)

We started this series last week with the basics of gelli printing. This week, we will take it up a notch and explore what to do with all of the prints once you have fallen down the rabbit hole and used a whole reem of paper to make endless prints. We'll also be demonstrating some more advanced techniques that use botanicals to create some really stunning results.

You can use the prints in many ways once they have dried and filled your collage drawers or bins.

First up, we have Marie-Pierre Guerin-Murphy, who has a journal made from exquisite dark prints made with her gelli plate and some botanicals.

More examples of gelli printing with botanicals are included in these reels by Clare Davis Etheridge:

We love the different effects both mediums have. And of course we love how well used Clare's gelli plate is.

Next, we have an art journal spread with a print made directly in a journal by Tanyalee Kahler. Not only is the background a print but so is the anatomical heart. TL used her Cricut machine to cut the heart out and incorporated it into her artwork.

Another way to use your prints is to incorporate them into regular spreads as collage fodder, just like Serena has with the below spreads.

Now it's your turn to start getting creative with your plates and using your gelli prints in your journals.

We would love for you to share your spreads in the Facebook group or on Instagram, but don't forget to tag us as collaborators so your posts appear in our feed as well. You can find some tips on how to do that in our highlights over on Instagram.
